Pissouri Residents Association

About the Association

A voice for the whole village

Independent, volunteer-run, and open to every resident — from the square and the church, up through the hillside streets, down to the bay.

Our Mission

“Pissouri should grow without losing the reasons anyone wanted to live here.”

The Pissouri Residents Association is an independent, volunteer-run body representing the people who live in and around the village. We are not a political party and we are not part of the Community Council — we are residents, speaking for residents.

Most of what we do is community life: the village quiz, the Christmas market, the summer fete and the rest of the events calendar. These are not decoration — they are how a village of long-standing families, newer arrivals and part-year residents actually meets each other, and they fund a good deal of what the association does. Events are open to members and their guests, market stalls are run by residents, and we help new residents find their way around the village.

Membership is open to every resident, regardless of how long you’ve been here or what street you live on. Cypriot and foreign residents sit on the committee together, and always have.

How We Work

Small committee, open door

The association runs on volunteers. Everything below is done by residents in their own time, and any member can stand for the committee at the AGM.

We meet monthly

The committee meets once a month to work through open issues, correspondence with the Council, and the events calendar. Minutes go out to members.

We raise it formally

Issues that affect several households go to the Community Council in writing, on the record, with a named contact and a date for follow-up.

We answer to members

Committee elections, the treasurer’s report and the year’s priorities are all settled at the Annual General Meeting, by the members present.

The Association

Who we represent

Anyone who lives in Pissouri — permanently or for part of the year — can be a member, and the association speaks for members when it deals with the authorities.

Papers & records

Members can request any of the following from the secretary. Copies are also kept at the Community Centre.

  • Minutes of committee meetings
  • Minutes and accounts from the last AGM
  • The association’s constitution
  • Correspondence with the Community Council on open issues

Ask the secretary at membership@pissouriresidents.com and allow a few days — everyone here is a volunteer.

Get Involved

Membership is inexpensive and it’s how we get heard.

Every member strengthens our voice with the Community Council and local authorities. Sign up at any event, or drop the committee a line.
